Ok, so this one was supposed to look like the one from Wilton, but the stupid flowers kept breaking. So I gave up. Sorry mom, you don't get a huge bouquet of fake flowers. I did learn a lot from this though: Make flowers with gum paste, they will dry faster and harder; when trying to place said flowers on wire, don't just curve the tip at a 90 degree angle, make it an S curve, so the stupid flowers don't fall off; and make sure the lattice work is a little more dry. But mom loved it so I guess it wasn't all bad.

This cake was what was left over from mom's cake. I thought I needed to make two of each size of the cake, so I had two small cakes and two large cakes. And it turns out I just needed one. (If I knew that I would have been able to go to bed a lot sooner!) So I thought the people at work would like to have some cake. So I mixed all the fondant I had left and used the broken flowers or the ones I didn't use. I put this cake together in like 30 minutes, so nothing was done right, but I figured it was just going to get eaten in the next couple hours anyway. So there was no support for the top tier, and no foil for the base, but they didn't' care. No, really they didn't care! The cake sat on the table all night, and than when someone did finally eat a piece of it, they just stuck the rest in the fridge. So it dried out. It sat in the fridge for like 4 days. I finally just through it out. I'm not make cake for them for a while, unless asked to make something. Sorry guys no more free cake.

This one I was so proud of. I made this for my fiend's birthday. She loves strawberry short cake. I had to order the candle from eBay, cause there really isn't anything in town for her. It's covered in fondant, and the strawberries and the bows and flowers are gum paste, learned my lesson I did. The bottom tier is a dummy, so it is just Styrofoam, but my friend wanted it to look like the picture even though there was only going to be like at max 10 people there, so I said ok. I do have a problem with rolling my fondant out too thin, so it looks kinda bulggy, and I made some huge mistakes on thae cake, hince the placement of the bows. But that is what those are for. I tell myself everytime I make a cake. It isn't how good you are at making a cake, it is how good you are at hiding your mistakes. I'm so happy I took this picture before I left though. Cause I learned a lot from this cake too: When using a dummy, make sure the rest of the cake is stuck to it some how, like a dowel through the cake to hold it together, something, ANYTHING. When I was driving with this in the trunk, which I do all the time, it is the flattest part in my car, and I can lay a non skid mat on the flour and the cake usually doesn't move. Unless, you stop really fast and the top tiers aren't attached to the base; also, don't place the top tier on the cake until you get there. Just take the time to fix it when you get there. What I'm trying to say is, my two top tiers went for a ride on their own in the trunk of my car. At least they were covered in fondant, so they stayed together pretty well. And I was able to still use them. I just ran home, which took me 30 minutes to run home. And recovered the top with the fondant I had left. It wasn't as pretty, and there were a lot of mistakes, but everyone still loved it. Even though I was mad with myself. And had a hard time enjoying the party or the complements I was getting about the cake.

This cake I just finished last night. This one turned out almost perfect. The stupid cake didn't bake the same. I used the same pan for both cakes, and the first one was shorter than the top one. So I had to cut it to match the bottom, but some how one side became lopsided just a little. But other than that, and the fact that the client changed her mind about when she wanted it. At first she wanted it on Friday, so I was working on it as if I was going to deliver it on Friday, than she changes her mind and asks if I can be done with it on Thursday. Well, needless to say, my plan on having some kind of date with my husband went out the window. I spent all day making this cake. But it did turn out good. I love making the flowers, they are so easy. I just have to cut out hearts out of.... you guessed it, gum paste, and shape them into a sorta flower shape, than cut out some more small hearts and do the same thing, and place those inside the larger ones. These are called fantasy flowers, cause they don't exsist outside the magical world of cake.
Here is a closer picture of the flowers.
